About Parish

Welcome to St. Mary’s Church, Kothanur. It’s a 250 plus members strong community, united in the spirit of the Lord. Our Church is based in Hennur-Bagalur road, which is on new BIAL airport road, and our community was formed to address the spiritual needs of the Malayalee Catholics here. Coming under the Holy See at Rome, and the Dioceses of Mandya, we follow the Liturgical celebration of the Syro Malabar Rite here.

The Syro Malabar rite has developed in unison with the rich culture of the people of Kerala, and our traditions are a reflection of the people that we are. Through our celebrations, we grow as a community, constantly in touch with our origins, as we move forward in our quest to seek and know the Almighty.

Vicar Message

A very special year has just passed us by. It is not fair to judge it by our subjective experiences as a bad year as the implications of the happenings of last year for the future of humanity is yet to be revealed. This year has reminded us that human beings cannot take the events on this earth for granted. Everything is not in our control; there are things that are beyond our control and even our feeble understanding. The greatest scientist of our century Albert Einstein once wrote, “Try and penetrate with our limited means the secrets of nature, and you will find that behind all the discernible laws and connections there remains something subtle, intangible, and inexplicable. Veneration for this force beyond anything we can comprehend is my religion. To that extent I am, in fact, religious.”
