St Mary’s Parish community regards the Faith Formation of its young people as highly significant. Our vicar Fr Emmanuel Poovathinal, Brothers, Sisters, teachers and parents work hand in hand in our duty to raise the children into responsible young Catholics. Our Parish is blessed with a strong Catechism team of 35 teachers for 147 students from Stds I- XII. Bible Nursery for tiny tots aged between 3-5 is also part of the Sunday School.
HOLY QURBANA
Holy Qurbana takes the center stage in children’s Faith Formation. Students use the Qurbana book and actively participate in the Divine Liturgy. Every alternate Sunday children are given the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Confession. Students offertory is also done class wise, every fourth Sunday.
ORIENTATION PROGRAM
The academic year starts with spiritual orientation programme for parents, teachers and students. Every year, eminent priests from different congregations are invited for this.
STUDENTS CHOIR
A vibrant students’ choir leads the faithful during the Eucharistic Celebration, every last Sunday of the month. Special attention is given, under a choir coordinator, to their training.
ALTAR SERVICE
Catechism students, after receiving the First Holy Communion, are encouraged to join the Altar Servers Association. They assist the Parish Priest in celebrating the Sacred Mysteries with utmost respect and reverence.
CML
An active CML unit with an efficient executive team prepares students from Stds V-XII for the universal call to mission, that the Church accords her children.
OUTREACH PROGRAMME
At the threshold of Lent and Advent, our CML unit organizes events for students to reach out to the less privileged. These programmes focus on laying a strong foundation for children, in Christian Charity.
BIBLE KALOLSAVAM
Catechism students showcase their talents by participating in events like Bible Quiz and Bible Kalolsavam. Our students bag several prizes both in the Forane and Diocese Levels.
We thank God for all the Graces that He showers upon us. We pray our humble efforts bear fruits, that the children grow up to be joyful and courageous witnesses of His Gospel, carrying to this world a ray of light!
